A chronicle of our lives in Melbourne, Australia.

Here's an excerpt from the Beat, one of the club guides in Melbourne:
"The hottest new crunk, hyphy, bmore, partyjammin steez on the weekly tip every Thursday at Revolver."

Can anyone translate please? 'Cause I'm wondering what it says. Am I really getting old? Probably the same people wearing the mod, one-size-fits-all mini-dresses know what this means. Arrrgh!

Sorry...can't help you there. It looks like it's making a reference to some kind of music they have at a club or record store. But I could be way off. :)

Umm, my guess would be that Revolver is a night club that caters to young people who also don't know what that ridiculous slang means.

Yeah, I the basic idea is translatable, just wondering about the type of music the slang refers to.

Oh, well, on that, I have no earthly idea... being as I am, a decidedly un-hip old fogey.

Definitions courtesy of urban dictionary...

crunk= crazy + drunk

hyphy= "like being crunk, but more having to do with being crazy and out of control; like hyper."

bmore= Baltimore?

partyjammin= self explanatory

steez= style + ease.

Who knew? So put those all together w/a bit of guess work and Wikipedia says music genre is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_Club

Of course that could be totally wrong...but the library person in me had to try;) Your blog is great- I am living vicariously! -
