A couple weekends ago, we took a ferry to Williamstown, the seaport settlement beside Melbourne that was established in 1837 and in charge of customs and immigration. Now it's a scenic little beach town with an Esplanade, Botanic Gardens, cafes, shops, and Hobsons Bay. We had a lovely day for it- lots of sunshine- and we found lunch at a table outdoors along the sidewalk. I decided to try the octopus salad. It seemed a good idea at the time. New place, new food, right? After ordering it, I found out that it was actually a squid salad, and by then it didn't seem right to say, 'nevermind, I'll just have the burger and fries'....so squid salad it was. It was actually good while I was chewing on it (and I mean chewing. and chewing. and chewing...) You'll be glad to know I refrained from taking a photo this time. Later, we had ice cream and I think it was sometime after that I got a stomach-ache. We took a train back to Melbourne in the late afternoon, and both felt we had a nice little adventure out of the city.
A chronicle of our lives in Melbourne, Australia.
