Walk Around St. Kilda

We walked around St. Kilda, a suburb of Melbourne by the beach, over the weekend. It has a relaxing atmosphere if you stay close to the beach; otherwise it is full of crowds on the weekends. There's a little botanic garden featuring local indigenous plants and a subtropical rainforest conservatory as well as tons of shops and restaurants. We passed by four or more cake shops which would have been tempting if not for the ice cream and sliced fresh fruit we'd just enjoyed. The big clown face is "Mr. Moon", whose mouth is the entrance of Luna Park, an amusement park built in 1912 that has the oldest operating roller coaster in the world.

Great pictures you've been taking the last couple of posts! Off topic, but I just read somewhere that in Australia if your boss tells you it's a nice day to travel, that means you're fired. Or something like that...ha ha!

I'm not a huge fan of amusement parks, but I would totally go to Luna Park just to pass through the awesome Mr. Moon mouth - funny how the entrance to an amusement park is sort of intimidating.

Thanks, Jayson. I'm working on my photography in a kindof "learn by doing" approach. Edlee, I personally hate amusement parks because I am afraid of heights and don't like feeling dizzy so I can't ride anything. I agree the Mr. Moon is freaky! Reminds me of that scary fortune-teller in the film "Big" w/ Tom Hanks.
