Visiting the Melbourne museum on Saturday was fascinating but we ran out of time to see all the exhibits. You could easily spend two full days here. They have great displays on dinosaurs, bugs, marine life, and mammals as well as a virtual room where you put on 3-d glasses and watch a variety of short science videos. I was surprised to see the live owl-type bird above when we walked in the forest gallery, a temporate forest habitat for live birds. At first I thought it was stuffed because it was perfectly still, but then after I stopped to watch it, it kept turning its head in small movements. The
museum also has an IMAX theatre, children's gallery, and Australia gallery. PS: Happy Fourth of July to all our friends and family in the U.S.! It's just another day for us in Oz.

Is that a kookaburra (the cute bird)? Also, you should read True History of the Kelly Gang - it approaches him as a sort of Irish rebel.
